Asbestos & Contaminated Soil
Safely disposing of asbestos and contaminated soil is critical for protecting our environment and community health. At Dahl Disposal Service, we’re here to guide you through the requirements so you can dispose of these materials safely, legally, and responsibly. Below, you’ll find important steps, documentation, and resources to help you get started.
Why Proper Disposal Matters
Asbestos and contaminated soil can pose serious health and environmental risks if not handled correctly. Oregon DEQ (Department of Environmental Quality) has specific requirements for testing, documentation, and disposal to ensure safety. Before hauling any material that may contain asbestos or contamination, it’s essential to complete the necessary steps.
Asbestos Disposal
By law, Dahl Disposal cannot accept any asbestos-containing materials. Please do not place asbestos or suspected asbestos materials in our drop boxes.
Construction and Demolition Debris
Please closely review the following requirements related to hauling or requesting a haul for Construction or Demolition waste:
- Before we can accept or haul any construction or demolition debris, you must provide an Asbestos Clearance Certification from a certified abatement company. This certification must state that the materials are free of asbestos. The certification is valid for one year from the date of inspection or abatement.
- Please read this Asbestos Flyer put together by the Lincoln County Hauler’s Association regarding the newest DEQ Abatement requirements.
- When hauling a load to our transfer station, our Construction and Demolition form needs to be accompanied with your load.
If any materials placed in a drop box appear to be suspected asbestos-containing material, the hauler or disposal site may refuse to accept the load until proper documentation is provided.
If suspected asbestos-containing material is discovered after pickup at the transfer station, you will be responsible for all cleanup costs — which can total thousands of dollars. Cleanup charges may be issued by the landfill, the hauler, or third-party abatement specialists.
