New Recycling List
July 2025 means the start of expanded recycling for your blue-lid carts! Oregon’s Recycling Modernization Act is taking effect this month, which means you can put more items in your comingled recycling cart. The goal is to make the list the same for the entire state. This has been a collaborative effort between Oregon’s Department of Environmental Quality, waste haulers, local governments and recycling facilities to create a standard recycling list for the state as well as establishing responsible recycling markets.
WHAT’S IN:
- Plastic bottles
- Metal cans
- Cardboard and mixed paper currently accepted in our program will continue to be accepted in our blue-lid recycling carts.
WHAT’S NEW:
- PLASTIC additions are tubs, buckets, and rigid plant pots.
- Bottles and tubs are limited to #1, #2 & #5 plastics.
- CARDBOARD additions are food and beverage cartons.
WHAT’S OUT:
- Aerosol cans and aluminum foil will move to depot-based collection (start date TBA for these items).
We will be mailing new waste guides directly to customers, signage at the recycling center will be updated, and you will see statewide messaging in local and regional media outlets.
